Set Design for Overtones

This is the set design for a production of Overtones by Alice Gerstenberg. The script portrays two personas of two women: as they appear to each other (Harriet and Margaret), and their inner selves (Hettie and Maggie). On its surface, the performance shows two refined women conversing politely, while their primitive selves hurl insults and rage against misogynistic social constraints. The set was designed to be morphable in accordance with the plot’s shifting narratives, effecting variety and atmosphere throughout the performance.
