Goo Cloud Pavillion
Built Project
Project year: 2023
Location: Columbia University Campus
Critic: Laurie Hawkinson & Galia Solomonoff
The Pavilion provide an oasis of calm for students and visitors of the
University campus during the rush of the end of the semester. Solar
panels are installed on each pavilion’s canopy to harvest daylight
for powering mobile device charging stations and embedded LED
lighting systems that vibrantly glow at night.
During the process, We explored recycled material options for the
pavilions’ skin, as well as research into photovoltaic (PV) technologies, which were used to generate power for the embedded lighting
system. The Pavillion was built within the regulations of the New York
State building codes and Columbia University regulations.
